I had a great late afternoon jaunt up to the glades and back down last Sunday and met Erik at the desk. I told him I wish they’d revive the old Telemeister race and he suggested I check out this blog. Does anyone else remember this race? I worked at BV Nordic back in ‘95-’96 and would be happy to share my renewed vision of it if anyone else is interested. I think the BV backcountry trails could offer an incredible challenge to the all around skier because one can utilize nearly every technique; classic, skate, tele, and alpine. The concept of cross country downhill that Karhu was pushing back in the eighties could be due for a revival. Anyone game?

Props to Chris Ford for being a terrific patroler. In mid-January two college buddies and I finally got it together to do the Bolton-Trapps. Chris, perhaps sensing we total newbies, hitched along, claiming he was only going up to Raven’s, but he kept going with us to the mid-point. He didn’t have to–we were well within out experience–but he sure increased the comfort margin of our traverse. Sadly, he missed a great powder run. Thank, Chris!
