We have surprisingly good conditions today. This morning we groomed 15km packed and tilled for skate skiing. It’s 25 degrees at 9am and snowing lightly. Wax of the dayis extra blue or violet. [Yesterday we received a couple inches of new snow in the morning, followed by a sugary/icy layer and ending with 4″ more inches of powder through the night.]
With the wind and new snow yesterday we were hopeful that backcountry conditions would improve. But today it’s a breakable crust. Once you start turning your ski breaks through. This makes for very tricky skiing and very challenging turning. The Bryant Trail to Bryant Cabin is nice because it was groomed last week and now there is a nice layer of powder on top. But skiing up higher from Bryant Cabin is the challenge.
All of our Backcountry Regulars say that today is a good day to stick to the groomed trails…. or snowshoe.
Join us tomorrow for Snowsnow Day— events kick off at 11:15am. See the events page for more information.
