Spring Today, Winter Tomorrow

Friday morning snowshoe group from Summit Property Mgmt Group. They were enjoying the warm weather, great work friends and some exercise.

We are still 100% open and the skiing is quite good with spring-like weather and conditions.  At noon today it is 45 degrees.   We have 8 km of fresh skate grooming and classic tracks today with an additional 10 km set yesterday. Today would be a great day for waxless skis or klister.

Backcountry reports from yesterday were extremely positive, with two of our regular skiers stating that it was one of the best days of the year on the colder north facing slopes.  We did groom Bryant Trail last week, so this main backcountry artery will hold it’s snow for longer.

This crew stopped in this morning to get tickets before heading out to the Catamount Trail and over to Trapps. With dinner at the Alchemist in Waterbury after they are making a day of it.

With seasonal temps returning tonight and a good amount of snow in the forecast for the weekend, we predict that we will soon forget about this warm spell. The snow in the forecast should help insulate our deep base and keep it from getting hard, making for more great skiing.

Our friend and map maker, Angus McCusker, relaxing on Maple Loop last Sunday. The woods are holding the snow well despite unseasonable temps this week.
